I used narrow grosgrain ribbon for the loops and sewed some hand-dyed cotton fabric on the inside to hide the stitches and make it more comfortable for wearing. Issues that will be a problem: my handsewing abilities are limited (messy) and I don't have access to a ribbon store, so I need to plan ahead on the fasteners.

Well, you may not have entirely captured the energy of your little chickadee, but you surely did capture her quirkyness and quizzical nature with the way you beaded her eye and the turn of her head. Also, your finishing work looks great to me! You'll learn as you go along, experimenting with your finishing ideas and techniques. I like the ribbon much better than bead loops, which always look too fragile to me. I bet you can find ribbon on-line. Can't wait to see the next one! Robin A.
Thanks Robin, it helps so much to have someone else look at the bird. I just get too close to a project and can't see the forest for the trees.
I don't trust beaded loops unless they're woven or braided, and I like the way the ribbon fits with the wool felt, cotton fabric and m.o.p. buttons. All fiber-arty ya know.
gorgeous! I love the way the beadwork reflects the spirals of the lining. Great work!
cheers,
Sarah
