happy father's day
I got an e-card from my good friend Sara D. wishing all of us who've lost our Dads a Happy Father's Day. My dad and I weren't terribly close when I was a kid, but I got to know him better as he aged, especially after Mom died. He was a pretty damn cool guy. He didn't finish college and part of his youth was used up by WWII and chronic asthma, but he continued to learn and grow right up until the end of his life. He was an electrician at the Boston Shipyard during WWII because he was unfit for duty. He used his shipyard i.d. number for a password on his computer... I miss him so much. Happy Father's Day, Dad. Thanks for all you taught me.
