it's the little things

I have a pencil sharpener, a real one with a crank handle and different sized holes for different sized pencils. It makes me so happy! This one was mounted on the wall at our house in Juneau for years, sharpening pencils for homework, artwork and for Dad to carry around in his shirt pocket to write notes in his little lined notebook. It was so satisfying to attach it to my new messy art area table, I sharpened all the pencils with in reach and a few of them that were out here waiting.

I actually have some fond memories of pencil sharpeners. My grandma had one mounted at the top of her stairway going to the basement, now that I think of it, I'm amazed none of us took a tumble down the stairs while sharpening our pencils!

That's so weird...that pencil sharpener was on the wall just outside the basement door at our house. I wonder if pencil sharpeners like basements for some reason, lol!

How was knit night? sorry I missed it, I was at work.

it must be something about basements because mine has been happily residing in my basement for 45 years still hard at work...though there was the time I did try to sharpen crayons...that did not amuse Dad. Sort of gummed up the works so to speak but he fixed it while muttering away. They are so much better than those silly battery operated ones hmm maybe I need to go sharpen something.......

IT is basements! 3 pencil sharpeners placed near basements by people who lived years ago...hmmm, I'm sure there's a grant proposal in this somewhere.

I think I had to clean the sharpener myself after the crayons...

Am I the only one that likes the smell of the shavings when you empty it? And isn't it fun if you forget and the shavings get really packed inside and they just keep coming and coming, and you wonder how much more is in there?
